Before we start， I was pretty busy during the time I picked up this book， I might have the wrong finishing date and it's why this took me so long to finish。（Might contain spoilers）！WOW！I didn't think I would like this so much。 I love this book， I love the main characters - I'm simply mesmerised。I was enchanted to meet this cast of characters that would probably stay with me forever and I cannot wait to read the next book。Izzi *chef's kiss* - She deserves the world， I'm sorry I don't make the rul Before we start， I was pretty busy during the time I picked up this book， I might have the wrong finishing date and it's why this took me so long to finish。（Might contain spoilers）！WOW！I didn't think I would like this so much。 I love this book， I love the main characters - I'm simply mesmerised。I was enchanted to meet this cast of characters that would probably stay with me forever and I cannot wait to read the next book。Izzi *chef's kiss* - She deserves the world， I'm sorry I don't make the rules。Izzi is soft and strong and I love this combination。 She's a great example of how strength is not characterized by cruelty and hard edges， how a powerful woman can be kind and soft and pure。 She's baby。I didn't like Laia when we started on this journey， but she grew on me。 Maybe because she felt real？ I don't know。 She was scared shitless， but she never gave up。 She fought and fought and fought， not letting anyone or anything put her down。 I admire her strength and courage， through her fear and weaknesses。 I'm scared of what will happen to her in the end， how much more she'll suffer。 Laia is a phenomenal protagonist。 I love her。Helene is that badass bitch。 I'd just like to mention here， I wasn't a fan of this love triangle。 Why can't friends be just that， friends？ Why do a boy and girl always have to be something more than that？ I would've preferred if Elias and Helene had siblings kind of relationship， I would've eaten that shit up。 Anyways， Helene was kind of the opposite of Izzi。 A strong woman， all hardened， with a good heart and a mind harshly twisted by her race。 I still loved her relationship with Elias。 Now Helene's story won't be about Elias， intertwined with his yes but now she has a role of her own， a story of her own。 Her strength was in letting go and I'd love to see more of her powers。Sana - also baby。 I want to see more of her。 Equally badass， incredibly loyal to her beliefs and the people she cares about。 She wanted to help Laia the moment she realised she was the daughter of their real leaders and even before that， she was kind to her。Keris - Is she actually that cold-hearted？ Emotionless？ A psychopath？ She's a clever and cruel woman。 A leader in men's world。 Cook - WHO BETRAYED HER？ WAS SHE IN LOVE WITH LAIA'S DAD？ WHAT DID THEY DO TO HER？ So many questions surrounding her。 I want to know her story。 She's mysterious and interesting and strong。 She survived all that and she still tried to protect Izzi and Laia， even helped in the end。Elias， my boy。 He was like a spell that swept over me。 Genuine and human from the first moment we knew him。 There are so many scenes of him that I love。 If I could， I would whisk him away and protect him with my life。 He had to kill his friends， to save his friends。 He swung at his best friend， his family， to deliver a killing blow。 I wish I could save him from all that pain。 He made me feel the most。 That dance scene at the festival。 I wish I could protect him from seeing the ones he care about getting hurt。 Helene。 Laia。 His friends。 His grandfather。 All his life he lived for others， but finally， I hope he lives for himself。 His end haunts me from the first book itself。 He has my heart。 I'm getting emo， let's stop :）Cain - Somebody give him a goddamn hug。 The whole world is burdened on his shoulders， for real。 He's cursed with knowledge and immortality， somebody release him from this imprisonment， let him find peace。 He saved my babies， I'm grateful。 I wish we could learn more about the Augurs origin， their past， and hope he will always be on the side of my faves and keep them alive。 I need to see his friendship with Elias。The main villain， the king with no name， I'm sorry for what they did to you but please don't take it out on my babies。I hope Zach's ghost haunts Marcus forever and either turn him into a good person or drive him insane enough to kill himself。 No， I don't mean that， that was too harsh。 Marcus， just don't be a throne in my side。 And stay the hell away from Helene or I will skin you alive。Have a great one guys！ 。。。more

A fun young adult read。 I listened to the audiobook。 The narration is a bit over the top in the first book， but so much better in the second。 The story is fast-paced， the characters are endearing， and the setting is enveloping。 It has a tad too much romance for my taste， but it doesn’t interfere too much with the enjoyment and adventure of the rest of the story。
